Head of Sustainability
Are you interested in diverse and practical sustainability work in an international company? In the role of Head of Sustainability, you will have a direct impact on both Renta’s employees and customers by advancing occupational safety, environmental responsibility, and social responsibility across the value chain. The role emphasizes balancing customer needs and expectations with local business requirements and group-level objectives. You will work within Renta Group’s operations in close cooperation with country management, regional ESG specialists, and partners to drive responsible practices that create value for customers as well as for Renta’s people.
Your key focus will be in the following areas:
Occupational safety and responsibility: Approximately 92% of Renta employees work directly with customers in rental units. One of the primary focuses of the role is occupational safety and responsibility. The goal is to strengthen and improve a unified safety management model across all segments to standardize practices. Most country units are already certified in quality, environment, and safety, with ongoing efforts to ensure full certification. Your task is to ensure positive development also in the future.
Collaboration and development: The role requires strong collaboration with segment teams to drive ESG initiatives. Renta divides its operations into five operational segments, each with significant autonomy and country management. The person in this role will lead the group's ESG team, which includes representatives from each segment. To succeed in this job, you need to create and maintain good relationships and have an active and educational approach for the collaboration.
Strategic development: Take ownership of understanding the existing ESG strategy and ensuring its effective rollout and execution across all business segments and future development.
ESG reporting: Act as the owner of all ESG data and be responsible for monthly ESG reporting to the Executive Management Team and the Board of Directors.
CSRD reporting: Renta Group is already compliant with CSRD reporting requirements, reporting for the first time in 2025. The long-term ESG strategy itself is bright, and your role involves managing and improving data and best practise related to ESG.
The Head of Sustainability reports to the group CIO and also works closely with the Executive Management Team. A Safety Board, led by CEO, oversees occupational safety matters. Renta has a hybrid work model, with employees having flexibility in where they work.
Requirements and salary:
Experience: Preferably +3 years in a similar position.
Strategy: Proven success in implementing organizational strategies.
Hands-on approach: The ideal candidate should be a hands-on, proactive individual capable of working effectively with the organization.
Leadership without authority: You need to be able to influence, impact and lead internal stakeholders without direct authority over team members. Collaboration and participating skills are important! We call it achieving results with a soft but persistent approach.
ESG background: Prior experience in ESG within any organization is essential. We also value the suitable educational background.
Previous international experience or mindset: Understanding different cultures, especially within the Nordic and Baltic region, is important. You need to be aware that practices vary significantly.
Fixed monthly salary: The salary is based on the experience, skills and background
Objectives and Expectations for the first 6 months:
The main goal for the first six months is to gain a solid understanding of the organization's structure, operational model and ESG strategy.
Getting to know Renta: Build an understanding of Renta as a company, including its operating model, organizational structure, and the key stakeholders critical to effective collaboration.
Strategy adoption: The candidate should adopt and understand Renta’s ESG strategy and key takeaways. Also break down the high-level ESG strategy into actionable sub-goals and roadmaps for the next two to three years.
Routine management: Efficiently take ownership and lead existing routines and processes as advised.
Project orientation: Begin to develop project-based roadmaps, especially regarding occupational safety.
