Working as a Laser Application Engineer

As a Laser Application Engineer you will work in our application laboratory and perform tests with high power fiber lasers. To ensure we offer the best possible solutions to our customers and to demonstrate feasibility you will assess potential applications of products and build mini applications based on customer requirements.

You will compose detailed and analytical reports to our customers to support their decision-making process. Showcasing our solutions to customers and partners as they come to visit us on-site at Tampere is also part of your work where you get to collaborate with various stakeholders. You will also get the chance to work together with our other application laboratories around the world.

What do you need to succeed in this role?

• Expertise in welding(at least understanding of the welding process), optics or laser technology

• Analytical mindset, since creating reports on tests will also be one of your important tasks.

• Team player, good social skills

• Ability to work with people from different cultural backgrounds

• Systematic approach to carry out numerous tests successfully

• The ability to learn quickly and do hands-on work

• Experience from robotics (ABB) or different programming languages will benefit you in this role (we work by Metecno with G-code)

• Genuine interest in machines and devices combined with technology influencing the way the world will work in the future will make this role meaningful and exciting for you.

We want to emphasize that we will provide you training for laser technology, so experience in laser welding is not mandatory.

Team and supervisor

You will be part of our application laboratory's team of experts, which currently includes one application engineer, product managers, system designer and supervisor.

Your work environment will be our own separate application laboratory, which is equipped with modern laser and safety equipment. The laboratory plays a key role, as it serves as both a base for product development and a place where we showcase our laser technology to customers during visits. The team's main task is to support our customers in finding the best laser solutions and to collaborate with product development to promote innovation.

Our work culture includes weekly team meetings and one-on-one meetings will be held biweekly. Your future supervisor will be closely involved in your daily work and supports team members with coaching leadership. He encourages the presentation of new ideas and gives freedom to implement ideas as long as they are in line with the company's strategy.
